Odd Shai Trivia

For those of you, my friends, I thought I'd toss out an odd piece of trivia about myself. If I had more time, I'd turn it in to a discussion and ask you all to contribute odd personal trivia. However, with the impending visit I'll just do a quick trivia hit and run. If you feel so inclined, I would be honored if you add a comment with a bit of trivia of your own.

I like dishes that don't match. You know where I got my silverware? A second hand store. Some are from my Grandmother and match but m… Continue

Shadows

The shadow loomed its darkened cloud
in ice cold passion clasped
its evil fingers round my heart
laughing as time passed

A single ray of precious light
began to warm a path
turning laughing cackles
to screaming in light's wrath

No mighty altercation waged
as I opened my eyes
The shadow simply disengaged
and vanished with its lies

Not a trace or imprint left
of once the mighty foe
The light had shown upon the truth
All's well now, this I know

The Cashew Debacle

As the sun began it's gentle descent, two and a half pounds of cashews littered the floor of my freshly vacuumed bedroom. I should have known better than to welcome the seductive sound of silence. My mommy alarms should have been blaring, "Danger! Danger!" But the kids have been ver… Continue

Siren Song

The water rough
But he was tough
He made not one complaint
Just pulled the sail
Against the gale
As a prisoner 'gainst restraint

The white caps tossed
seemed all was lost
The mighty sailor fought
To keep her right
As sails went tight
Not once was he distraught

Drenched and cold
The sailor bold
Pushed to the edge of death
His efforts grew
"No way but through"
He mumbled 'neath his breath

The night grew long
The sirens song
It melancholy rang
He swore once more
He'd reach the shore
Despite the… Continue

The Angel

The Angel

With sounds that of scraping
I drug the knifes blade.
First one side than next
like I'd mastered the trade.

For hours I'd sat here
perfecting this tool
to use on a villain;
a task master cruel.

"You wouldn't," she whispered,
her smile slyly mocked
as I in my chair
slowly back and forth rocked.

Her whispers had plagued me
for near all my life.
It's her voice i sought
to carve out with that knife.

The rooster had crowed.
It was day on the land
as the light glinted sharp
off the blad… Continue

About Me

My name is Shai, pronounced 'Shay'. Well, it's not my real name. But it's what everyone, including my husband calls me. My husband and I have three lovely little girls who light up my life like a brilliant July sunrise.

I write because I love it and because it's just about the only thing I can do for me these days. Three children under the age of 5 keep mommy incredibly busy. But it's my job of choice, so I won't complain. One day I'll have lots of time to write. Until then, I savor every moment I have with my three little angels.

Along with poetry, motherly tidbits, short stories, novels and other various things, I like to write music. I play guitar and piano as well as sing. In fact, my real name is Colbie Caillat. Okay, that's a lie, but I do like to sing and play my guitar. Although, these days if I pick up a guitar the kids are all over it. :) So, I write.

I'm my father's favorite son, so to speak, so I've done a ton of hiking, fishing, camping, hunting and car repairs. My favorite team is the Boston Celtics, although my favorite basket ball player is Michael Jordan. Don't even try to talk me out of it. Won't happen.

Even though I'm kind of a tom boy, I wear only dresses or skirts and my hair is so long at this point I pretty much sit on it half the time. I'm a little strange, but in a good way.

Anyhow, that's me. Feel free to read whatever I have posted here. If I could, I'd offer you some home made bread and a cup of hot tea.

Cheers,
Shai

Yes, Disappearing Act is a disgraceful story, typical of small boys and definitely not of small girls! I only felt sorry for the poor dog in retrospect.
