I like the feel of this poem. Of ocean waves rolling in and then returning, surrounded by the hum of traffic and radio and the emotional pull of memory like the ever turning tide, perpetuating the feeling of endless unresolved emotion. Brenda V No...

Need to get back on, here's a more recent piece...

While We Slept

It’s late and I’ve been sleeping for four hours; my brother for two. Somewhere nearby, down the street, down any street, it had occurred, was occurring, still occurs. Laughter from three boys had sporadically transformed: one boy lay lifeless, one half his body dangling out the window, the other half contorted and confined within the unrecognizable Chevrolet. The next boy was screaming into the night, pain attacking the fifty-two places he would later be told by doctors we… Continue

Newest poem, written after countless nightmares and the great expereince of "being cheated on..."

Recovery Through Raindrops

I hadn’t smiled in a while
only smiled with you…
always wanted to be with you—
I dreamed of you.
Never held a hand like I held yours,
it felt so different, warmer and softer.
When I held you at night
things felt right—
I’d never slept that well before.
I loved waking up with you in my arms
like it was natural, you were put there for me, finally.

The greatness of the oceans, the beauty of the sea,
the perfection of the weathered sands, and the miracle of… Continue

9/29/2003 (an older peom that I've recently edited and submitted to some contests)

A Corpse and a Corruption

It was there where I took cover
from life and its troubles.
Its beauty engulfed my soul
and I visited almost everyday.
Sparkling waters and new love;
a place where anger could be forgotten.

Twenty years later
I was drawn back to this place.
By flashing lights and curiosity.
Leaning over the bridge things became clear:
A corpse and a corruption
in the place where I grew up.

The river was mesmerizing.
I could almost see myself
playing in the waters as a c… Continue

A Little Flash Fiction...

Finding Enlightenment at a Used Car Dealership

The man walks. The man, plump and bright approaches the Volkswagen. Sees his reflection—shudders then chuckles.
The keys come in full force across the sky. Magically, they jingle across the parking lot and into his palm. He unlocks the door, opens it. One bare foot in, than the other. Suddenly, one bare foot out, than the other. He wonders where his sandals have gone. He shudders, then chuckles, wiggles his toes and gets out.
Magic again as… Continue

Adding another poem

WOW! This site is great and it's so nice to see people reading my stuff! I am currently in training for a bodybuilding show and it is very hard to focus on new writing since I am 45 days away and my mind is always either on food or competing. I'm going to post another recent poem though, thanks again!

While Driving Home

The outside moves by in slow motion
as I drive off in my car,
I barely see the brightness of the ocean.

My day with her, my only notion
but I just can't tell where we… Continue

Thank you very much for your comment about "Why I Write..." I feel you. I went through the very same things that you did. I believe those types of experiences is one of the major things unites us writers.
