Thanks for the welcome.

There is time for others and there is time for us; but the best time is when you take the time to share!

Paul,
I have good news and I have bad news. No, wait - only bad news...
Searsha, due to an overwhelming school schedule, is bowing out of the story writing project. That means that you are up.
I know you weren't expecting it so take your time.
Are you done yet?

I know moments like that..lol they usually hit me when I am driving down the road in rush hour traffic, going to a job site, or unloading and I don't have the time to stop and I don't have paper handy.

But I adapt and I over come...I bought a digital recorder...AHHHAAA I am the master of my world.

My Old Man: Thursday Night

He is probably sitting
in a two-tone mobile home,
his chair close to the electric heater
that hums in the corner;
he is polishing an old bowling trophy
with a white athletic sock,
on the outskirts
of some resort town
no one can pronounce.

He has arranged some pre-fabricated
white picket fence along the sidewalk
that would do nothing to deter
the night time marauder, consumer
of marigold heads that leave
only stems adorning, flowers long past due
and tending far from his thoughts.

And while he… Continue

Armageddon and the Christmas Dog

The first snows of December had already fallen. It was the winter of 1975 and like many winters that had come before, Petoskey was already blanketed in snow. Garland hung between the lamp posts of Mitchell Street suspending plastic bells above the busy street. Earnest shop keepers shoveled snow even as it fell, a lesson in futility I would carry well into adulthood. Banks were formed along the sidewalks by the snow that could be pushed no farther. These banks created a type of frozen bowling all… Continue

"Before... Even...When"

I know I have been away...I have not gone astray...for risk of low decorum...I have written in other forums...so here is just a poem...to bring me back to home...

Really, I have been doing a Poem A Day Challenge over at Poetic Asides with Robert Brewer. It has been a challenge, but with just two days left, I thought I would give you a taste of what I have been doing this month. I couldn't lose this scent; it was too important not to be written. If you would like to start at November 1, go to

Monochromasy

I can feel the colors – how about you?
Ever see the green through dew?
The promise of the blade so sharp,
Front yard songs sound like harps.

I can feel the colors – how about you?
Ever feel the water’s blue?
Lakes put on the ocean’s clothes;
its want of salt it never shows.

I can feel the colors – how about you?
See the berry hanging due?
Dangling from the branch to fall,
its flesh and blood, it offers all.

I can feel the colors – how about you?
the crystal white of thirty-two?
When all is fr… Continue
