Aloha Mari, If this book is a supernatural, suspense, thriller, your first line doesn't show it. The old rule: "Show, don't tell." You need to show ACTION in a big way. Example: In the dark for the forest, the eyes shown like flashlights from b...

Beaufort Falls was not exactly what you would call a "happening" town. :-p It's always been hard to place this book in a genre. Supernatural, fiction, suspense, thriller (of sorts) ... It doesn't even take place entirely in Beaufort Falls.

Right on, Weirdo! Christmas cheer IS "swimming underwater" and it's hardly worth the January and February blues. Not to mention the number of people who realize around Christmas that it's actually true that no one loves them, not just another figm...

Review of "Perilaus," a novel by Mark P. Henderson

What is worse than spending your life in prison atoning for your crime of passion? Living with it. Facing it every day. Drinking to obscure the memory and banish the ghosts. If you are a writer there is an alternative, but it means losing your mind in the process.

“Perilaus” by Mark P. Henderson, is a story of transference on a level previously found only in a psychiatrist’s nightmare, an intricate and beautifully woven tapestry of rationalization and longing gone mad as the writer becomes trap… Continue

A BAKER’S DOZEN
by
MARI SLOAN

Introduction

My heart is racing, adrenalin is surging through my body. Time is getting away from me. Every possible avenue of escape has been examined. I look to the right; look to the left, the crisis point is now. Time to start typing.
The topic is a mind-buster. One hour to write a story from start to finish and send it out. Will the words come this time? Is my idea original? Has this been done before? It’s fifteen minutes and counting. Muse don’t fail me now.… Continue

Personally, I find you very unignorable. (Hopefully, that's the right use for the word I just invented.)

Hi Mari - thanks for the comments on The Fur Coat... actually one of the first short stories I wrote, five or six years ago!

Hi Mari - Glad you enjoyed Fenella! I did write a few others for my daughters when they were young, but I don't know whether they're still extant. Both the girls liked Fenella... most disappointing - one would expect one's daughters to empathize with Felicity, wouldn't one? (!) I have a vague recollection of one tale in which Fenella went to fight a troll, but the troll turned out to be a vegetarian with a strong social and environmental conscience...

Hello. I am part of the Learn/Teach group but missed the discussions due to private obligations. I was wondering if you would mind answering a couple of questions I have regarding POV and Active listening. Please message me and I will ask if you don't mind. Thank You.

Hi Mari - As you've observed, I managed to register here... Maybe I'm improving, though my daughters would no doubt offer an alternative opinion. Thanks for the welcome message!

Mark.
