Beyond Simplicity

I'm presently working on two books simultaneously. One is the sequel to In Search of Simplicity. I believe it will be called Beyond Simplicity. The other is a little book of essays, quotes and affirmations.

I thought I'd paste below a few unedited pages from the very beginning of Beyond Simplicity. I am completely open to constructive feedback if anyone feels so inclined. If sharing this turns out to be a successful… Continue

The Art of Living

Our world of distinctions is built on paradigms, on the collective agreement of human-created models. Frankly, many of these models have outworn their welcome; many of them have stayed on the shelf long past their due dates.

There are numerous teachers today of something called ‘The Secret’, something called ‘The Law of Attraction’. These people, in many cases have tapped into the Stillness and have gained the realization there are no limitations. But to bring that awareness back to this world… Continue

Seven Keys to Building an Author Platform the Fun Way

I thought I'd share a little article I wrote recently. I like to think it has a slighlty different perspective. Enjoy the following seven keys:

1. Be patient. It takes time and persistent effort to build an author platform, both on and off the net. The average celebrity wasn’t famous overnight. Why should you be? Expect an excellent outcome, but don’t anticipate instant results. Most overnight success stories followed on the back of years of persistent, often seemingly unrewarded effort. There’… Continue

Hello! Um, I'm having a little technical problem with 'My Page' and somehow I can't use it but apparently you and others still can. Very weird. I don't really know whats going on but I had to re-do 'My Page' and well, I had you as a friend in the other page so, would you like to still be my friend in my other page?
Hmmm... that was confusing. Sorry!

HI John,

Good to hear from you. Afraid my wife's stuff has gone for good. Even our car is in the garage having the locks changed as the thief could easily have found it in the car park and used the remote to get in and steal it. Of course, all her money is lost and her bank card, phone and the usual personal things that ladies carry around with them. Wish I could get my hands on whoever did it.

I'm not a violent person but in this case I could be tempted to make an exception. My wife is still so upset and distraught. It'll take a while for her to get over it I think.

Nice to know you have an ex-RAF pal over there too.

Have a great day my friend.

Best regards

Brian

As you say John, the internet is indeed a wonderful means of bringing people together. I hope you have found happiness in your adopted home. During my time in the RAF I met a number of great people from Canada, Australia and of course, NZ. they were happy times but seem a long time ago now. Had a bit of a bad day today as my wife had her handbag stolen while out shopping and lost her money, car keys, phone and lots of personal stuff. Hope you've had a better one.

Best regards

Brian

You're right. You're definitely very lucky if you can walk by the beach to go to work every morning. That'll make anyone's day a lot brighter. Here we have biking trails and there's plenty of nature also but very few have all this close to home. I enjoy biking for the exercise and workout, but as transportation is very dangerous and the distances are too great.

John, you are way ahead of me and I will learn from you. I am totally fascinated with the titles of your books and the direction you are taking with your creativity.
Thank you.

Hi John,

Now, there's a thing. The publisher of my novels 'A Study in Red' and 'Legacy of the Ripper' is Double Dragon Publishing from....Markham, Ontario! What part of Canada do you originate from?

GReat thing, this Commonwealth isn't it. It sort of brings people together from all corners of the world in so many unexpected ways.

Hope you're having a great day.

Best regards
