Hi Jim! A big southern "howdy!" from the North. Oh...those Myrtle Beach days (singin' the beach song in my head now)! Until a couple of yrs ago, for many yrs I'd go to Myrtle Beach about 3-4 times/year. My mom also has family in SC. I love soooo many parts of SC (esp. Charleston, Beaufort, and Murrell's Inlet). It's about the same amount of time to there as it is the NC Outer Banks. Of course, I've done many a day-trip to the coast whether Topsail, Wrightsville Beach, or Atlantic Beach.
For some reason...being at or near the water is the ONLY place I've found so far where I can either clear my mind "completely" and just "BE"...OR mull-over some heavy thoughts.

I look forward to taking time a bit later to view your fabulous works! Best Wishes...

SYNOPSIS OF ”THE FOOT LOG INCIDENT” by Jim Horton

Two friends Joe and Brian get new coats for Christmas. They are excited about their gifts and go for a walk in the woods. They are warned to stay away from a stream that is overflowing due to the melting snow. They of course ignore this advise and venture to the stream. Joe decides to cross the stream on a foot log which is just at water level. Brian begs him not to cross, but Joe is determined to cross. A huge log being washed downstream is heading for the foot log and Brian warns Joe to get off. Before Joe can retreat, he slips and hangs onto the hand rail. When the log rams the foot log, Joe loses his grip and is washed downstream. Brian runs along the stream bank yelling to Joe. He instructs Joe to grab a tree branch hanging out over the stream. After several unsuccessful tries by Joe, Brian pushes a small tree over into Joe’s patch. Joe catches the tree branch and with Brian’s help is pulled safely to the bank. Both boys coats are ruined and later, they apologize to Joe’s mother for disobeying her warning about the stream.

Other Books in the works:

I have written several Joe and Brian Adventures and have a total of sixteen stories in the works. I would like to have a series of theses books published. “The Foot Log Incident” is the only book I have illustrated thus far. Other finished adventures are: “The Flying Squirrel Incident”, “The Boat Incident”, “The Bull Incident” and “The Tree House Incident”.

The moral of all my stories is: Listen to your parent’s advise. All the Joe and Brian adventures are based on real events that happened to me and my friend when we were children.
