Do you have a better chance of being a pro athlete or a pro writer?

Actually, Tony, at the University of Kentucky, where I went to graduate school, the athletics department is not only self-sufficient, but also transfers $1 million per year to the school for academic…

What do you want to accomplish with your writing?

I think I could hit 50000 in 30 days if I was able to put in at least six hours per day. When I was committed to writing my book (which I am hoping to be again), I was getting 1000 words in between t…

I often hear that a small percentage (probably less than 1%) of high school athletes in sports like football and basketball are able to obtain an athletic scholarship. Then, an equally small percenta…

Would you like some MONEY???

To Tony Walker regarding ebooks: I just don't see the draw, myself. I have enough trouble looking at my own work as I'm writing it, let alone to read someone else's work on a computer screen. My hou…

Your poem inspired this response: I hope that you don't mind. You SHOULD care; This ain’t no dare. The times’ at hand to make that stand To hold the flag of truth aloft To stand your ground when others will not To tell their stories to those who fo…

And yet--for all the truth of that--at times... so hard to just take... so seemingly impossible to discover the middle way--to find that compromise... But a poem of consummate truth--and I like it......

So long as American colleges reward people for being able to bounce a ball, rather than reward true intellectual achievement, this country will never achieve true greatness. How many bright young people will never go to college because they either…

I would like to be successful enough with my writing to be able to write full-time. Sounds simplistic, but writing is one of the things I really enjoy doing and if I was able to do it full-time, working really wouldn't be working, would it? My goal…

Should I care?

Should I care?
This isn't sarcasm
I truly need to know
With all you throw at me
I no longer can discern
What should tighten my heart

If it's crimson, it's golden
But the rays overwhelm me
Through porcelain you tell me
Of shaken babies and drive-bys
You leave me angry and indignant
But, ultimately, only helpless

So bring your investigators
Away from would-be molestors
Long enough to find some clues
As to where life lost value
And answer the simple question
Should I care?

Lucid

I am lucid

But not sure if I am knowing

I am moving

But only going through the motions

I love

But can't say that I'm loving

I am living

But can't find my pulse

I have responsibilities

But don't know that I am responsible

I'm thirty-nine

But am I an adult?

I am knowledgeable

But not sure if I know anymore......

It is what it is

It is what it is

No more, no less

It is life

It is the lack thereof

I care, I don't

Sometimes all at once

It is fulfilling

It is a void

All that is light

All that is dark

Celebrated nothings

Subtle revelations

No more, no less

It is what it is

First Chapter of my Untitled Book (WARNING - Sexually explicit)

Chapter I: The Widow Bayless

Elizabeth Bayless was a young widow. As opposed to most widows, her husband was, at that moment, six feet above the traditional six feet under. Her widowship, if such a word existed, was caused by Rick Bayless’ attachment to a word processor rather than the Grim Reaper’s attachment to him.

Rick was an author whose works had been steadily climbing up the Bestseller List over the past five years. His novels centered around a medieval knight and his adventures. He was… Continue

Hi David,
I caught the tail end of your chat with 'Said' and saw where you had asked:

Hi, Dana. Can you tell me how people put their writings on here so others can read them?

I am always logged in, so sometimes it's deceptive that it looks like I am planted at my computer...

You can post your works as blogs--or in the middle section of your page in a text box.

I'm really not sure how this works. You can go on my page at http://www.authornation.com/dallen09 and read the first three chapters of the book I am working on. It is fiction/chick lit/romance/erotica, whatever you want to call it. I would greatly appreciate feedback on the book as this is my first time going through this process. Thanks very much!
