Trees in Winter (Whitney)

Trees in Winter

Trees begin

Their winter sleep

Stripped bare

Of their gold leaves.

I wonder

If they shiver

During winter's cold evenings?

Author's note: The Whitney is a seven line poem which may or may
not rhyme. Lines 1, 3, and 5 consist of 3 syllables;
lines 2, 4, and 6 consist of four syllables, while the
seventh and final line has seven syllables in it.
