Welcome to Sharing Inspiration!

Hi everyone,

If you are a member, thank you so much for taking part in this group. With this group I hope to give everyone a new voice behind their writing in letting everyone know where their inspiration came from. I know that for myself, a lot of my poetry was inspired by important events in my life or through observation of my surroundings. I was inspired to create this group because I thought that it would be extremely interesting to be able to read where others get their inspirations and that by reading them, others could quite possibly discover new areas to find inspiration. Tell us about your inspirations which ever way you would like... post a piece and then tell us the inspiration behind that piece or just tell us what inspires you in general. Once again, thank you so much for taking part in this group of inspiration and I hope to see many posts and comments soon.

Hello! just joined a few seconds ago.

As a Christian, I am generally inspired to write by, if only by many, if not all, things Bible related. Virtually, any theological or spiritual topic, at some point (at one time or another), is subject to set me searching pen and paper, or, a keyboard. That's how my "serious" writing debut began about six years ago. Until then, I typically avoided writing, except under compulsion, like the plague. Since then, I have begun five books, finished three, and have launched three websites (all to the glory of my Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ!).

One of our members, Angel1, has written an inspiration about her MUSE; and posted it to her blog. Check it out. I need more than one muse.
One male and one female to inspire my dual personality.

Inspiration for me comes from a picture, a postcard, and more times than none the news. It’s that deep seated feeling within your gut of social injustices and travesties that mock reality and lyrics for a poem will spring to mind, perhaps not a good poem, but a poem none the less. I wrote this a number of years ago, back when the homeless settled in the streets and the economy was starting to tank and fear gripped my insides, and now it seems more prevalent with individuals losing their homes.

In the middle of the night…
with feelings of fright,
when things go thumpety-thump
Is it a rap at the door?

Or knock on the floor…
look under the bed, out the window,
one should never, answer the floor.

In the dead of night, when ghostly shadows creep,
and nightmare ghouls don’t slumber,
thunder roars, and lighting strikes
shatter that feeling of fright
Wake Up!
Wake Up!

There’s no bed to look under or window to look out,
not even a door… just a cardboard floor
No shelter to cover this feeling of fright!

Those nightmare ghouls
are the politicians that rule.
The thunder that roars is the millions of poor.
When lighting strikes… it’s the peoples fright.

Shatter that feeling of fright,
no knock has disturb your slumber.

There is no bed to look under,
Or window to look out…just cardboard floor.

Hi Christie! OMG...Imagine my surprise when catching up with things here in 'the box' that I received an accolade for your Jan '09 photo inspiration challenge! This makes my night! ;-) Thanks for the challenge, and it was quite fun.

For this contribution, I referred back to some very recent personal reflections and journal entries.
I'll look forward to this each month, to see what new and interesting photos are here. You've developed a great forum for inspiration here Christie!

In response to Markus Cross, I think that many times inspiration comes from those emotions that we feel the most intensely; love, hate, grief, jealousy and yes, pain. Those intense emotions stir us and the result may just flow out all over the page in a torrent. Angel1

I get my inspiration from my family and friends, many of whom are delightfully disfunctional and make for great humorous writing material. For the poignant and touching stories, inspiration comes from watching those around me, some known, some strangers, as they struggle to overcome the obstacles in their lives. But the best of my writing is inspired by God.
