First Lines

Whether you’ve published or are writing a book, novella, or short story, you will write in a particular genre.

What we’ll do here is post ONLY the GENRE and the FIRST SENTENCE of the story.

Follow my example:

Open a New Discussion with your name as the title, nothing else.
Enter your genre and first sentence only, nothing else.

What we’ll discuss is whether your first sentence cements your story into the genre in which you’ve chosen to write.

Barry, you entered this in the wrong spot. Easy to do. START A DISCUSSION up above this comment wall. Post it there, so people find it.

Genre: Crime.
Mark opened his front door to see a dark shadow, as he saw a flash and fell to the floor, his child stood there screaming daddy.

Has anyone here finished the stories their 'first lines' began? Are they posted here? I would love to read some of them.

THe thunder was so loud ,I think God was playing his bass drum and the lightning flashes had to be him taking pictures of our reaction. I was curled up in a closet terrified, but it wasn't the storm that scared me. It was him and how did he find me.
